Point Richmond CERT offers monthly meetings that rotate between the first Wednesday and the first Thursday each month
Each meeting offers a short presentation from disaster and safety experts to educate neighbors on home preparedness
This month's PR CERT topic: When the Sirens Blow... Shelter-in-Place and Evacuations
When the sirens sound, do you know what to do? Should you pack up and get out or shelter-in-place? And what exactly does "shelter-in-place" mean?
Is your phone number of the database that will be called to alert you to an emergency?
September's monthly meeting features Vince Martinez, emergency planner for Contra Costa County Sheriff's Deparment Emergency Services Division, who will explain how the Community Warning System works, what you should do when the sirens go off, and steps you can make before an emergency to ensure you have the right information as quickly as possible.
Because our September meeting conflicts with the local school district's Back to School Night, we have moved "Emergency Preparedness for Children" to a later date.
